Peter and his companion Aero, the dog, enjoy a relaxed coastal lifestyle in Whakatane. Their new home is the epitome of modern lifestyle living.
“I sold my large two-storey home set on an acre to gain more time back to enjoy a slower pace of life”.
Peter was on holiday in Queenstown when he decided to visit a Signature Homes showhome in Jacks Point. He was impressed by the build and provided his contact details to the Showhome host.
When he returned home, New Home Consultant Jason Cook from Signature Homes Bay of Plenty & Coromandel got in touch.
“I wasn’t expecting someone from Queenstown to connect me with anyone in my local area. I was impressed”.

Peter's top three 'must-haves' were to create a low-maintenance, energy-efficient, modern home.
His Signature Homes design team created a contemporary home inspired by New Zealand's East Coast.
"I wanted a pavilion style house styled on the Signature Homes Jack's Point showhome, but with a North Island East Coast flavour".
Honouring the sweeping views over rolling farmland and out to Motouhore was an absolute must-have too.

You enter Peter’s modern abode via a boardwalk deck and step into large open spaces.
The pavilion-style home means all bedrooms are tucked away from the living areas, and the master suite comes complete with access to the decking area.
Well-considered ‘value adds’ include a cloak cupboard for guests, a spacious study to work from home, and an under bench wine fridge in the stunning scullery.

Peter worked with his Signature Homes interior designer to decide on the exterior and interior colours and materials. "I found the process very helpful".
Peter's brief of an East Coast inspired home comes to life with tan and cream accents and coastal furnishings. The home truly complements its semi-rural surroundings.
The exterior catches the sunlight at all the right times, where the Abodo timber cladding in "Straw" creates beautiful creamy blonde shades throughout the day.
Timber is the primary feature on the exterior, with subtle grey-toned bricks to add contrast. The timber theme continues inside, with engineered timber flooring and timber furnishings.
Shades of white is the primary colour in the home's interior, creating light-filled spaces that instantly create a sense of calm upon entry.

“I enjoyed the whole process, which ran very smoothly, and on time. I was very impressed”.
Peter mentions that before his current home, he had built three times before, highlighting that Signature Homes was the smoothest and less stressful of them all. Great news!

“It’s good to have an idea of what type of architectural style you want. Before building, I spent a lot of time looking at various design magazines and visiting various Showhomes throughout NZ”.
