Mike & Marianne

Christchurch locals Mike and Marianne wanted a family home that felt like their holiday home every day, with open plan spaces and a significant focus on outdoor living. Mike and Marianne wanted the opportunity to Design and Build their home from scratch, and found a section in the prominent and well-established subdivision ‘Preston’s’ in Marshlands.

The site up for grabs was a flat section boasting 1038m2 of space to play with. Even better, the section flows onto the Waitikiri Golf Club, giving the illusion of more space and providing an impressive backdrop of well-established native trees and lush green lawns. 

This stunning home was Designed & Built by the award-winning team Signature Homes North Christchurch.

Marianne and Mike wanted to achieve a cedar type look for their exterior, opting for - a more cost-effective and sustainable product that silvers off over time and offers texture to the home. Further visual appeal is achieved with Resene’s Rockcote Integra product helping to balance out the timber.

Marianne certainly got her must-have of a designer kitchen. Millbrook Kitchen’s provided all of the joinery, Gracestone for the Granite, and Marble for the benchtops, creating the masterpiece you see today.

Whilst the most dominate colour pallete for the home is white, colour is introduced through the furnishings, and cool feature walls.

The wooden floors are carried through into the stairwell, with a feature light fixture and a distressed look wood on the wall adding contrast to the space.

The ‘wooden’ theme is introduced again in the master bedroom in a different tone to add points of interest to the home.

The home features various window shapes to make the home stand out even more. There is also an abundance of skylights throughout the home, letting light ooze into all-important spaces throughout the day.

Marianne and Mike describe the Signature Homes North Christchurch team as great listeners.

“They were patient, had great ideas and helped us make good decisions around cost-saving design features”, says Mike.

The speed at which Mike and Marianne’s house was built is phenomenal. From consent, it took just over 4-months to construct this large home!
