Mel is no stranger to Signature Homes Waikato; in fact, her team would describe her as part of the furniture, having been there from day dot when they were a small team navigating a new business. Today, Signature Homes Waikato is one of Signature Homes most successful franchises. Both Mel and Jay are in the trade industry, with Jay being an electrican and Mel Signature Homes Waikato’s Marketing Manager however, funnily enough, Mel and Jay started their first-home journey looking at existing residential properties, dragging their feet to endless open homes hoping to find 'the one'. Mel knew the benefits of building, so she convinced Jay to give it a go. 

Mel and Jay’s section is slightly evelated which allowed for a bit of a view, their new build needed to make the most of this opportunity, and allow for ample space to enjoy the outdoors.

Mel has a fabulous sense of style, where every inch of her home feels like you’ve walked into a showhome. Statement pendant lights, insert a luxury feel in the kitchen and wooden accents, add extra appeal. The custom made concrete benchtop is a true statement piece.

The low maintenance lifestyle is further enhanced with polished concrete floors. Mel and Jay worked with Signature Homes's colour consultant to introduce a neutral palette that wouldn't go out of trend, making the property attractive for resale.

"As this was our first home, we were very budget conscious, the Signature Homes team helped us select materials that didn't empty our pockets but still looked great, we're really happy," says Mel.

Mel and Jay invested in upgrades that were important to them, such as a black sink and tapware, tiled showers, thicker carpet and square stop finish to the ceilings for that clean look.

Even though we had existing ties to Signature Homes Waikato, we were treated like any other customer. The entire process was handled extremely professionally. They knew how nervous we were, and it definitely felt like our hand was being held at all times. We were made to feel at ease throughout our build, explains Jay and Mel.

“We’d build again without a doubt! Our next home will be a new build too. I’m a total convert”! says Jay.
