Say hello to Kaha
Meet Kaha the kiwi, a Māori term signifying strength, resilience and courage.
As proud sponsors of Save the Kiwi, Kaha the kiwi is our Signature Homes mascot, representing how proud we are to be New Zealand’s largest Kiwi-owned home-build brand.
Kaha the kiwi also represents our commitment to protecting the biodiversity of New Zealand. For each home we build we contribute crucial funding to the Save the Kiwi’s predator protection programmes, kiwi release initiatives, and volunteer workforce.
By partnering with Save the Kiwi, we strive to make a meaningful impact on the conversation of New Zealand’s precious wildlife.
About the artwork
Inspired by the Māori legend of how the kiwi lost its wings, the popping bold palette reflects the bright colours the bird once had and serves as a reminder of the need to preserve and protect.
The face and skeleton depicted on each side aims to juxtapose the feelings around the kiwi. In awe of its beauty and significant importance as a cultural icon of Aotearoa, and on the flipside in despair that this national treasure is endangered.
The fluid tongue is in kōrero of these emotions and pressing issues. It wraps around its beak like caution tape and protection, a reminder of the past and a warning for the future
